Original Water cooling Project

This is a journey into the beginning of my 9th grade year of high school. I made a water cooling system for my computer.

As you can see, it’s rather ghetto. It was quite a simple project, But cheap, very cheap. My father had to help me make the next part.

That, my friends, is a water cap. Made by my neighbor(Tbor), my father, and myself, This cap was used in place of a traditional finned heatsinks. It circulates water through it’s inside from a 500gph pump and ¾” tubing and picks up heat to then be dissipated by the radiator. This is a superior method of removing heat from a processor.
The processor I was using at the time was this:

The Cyrix MII-333, this processor was slow compared to others but had a good selling point, the price. These cpu’s could be had for around $30 at the time and oddly cost more today! These processors had very little overclocking potential. The most I could get these to was 285mhz with a good heatsink and fan. And the most voltage was about 3.0 volts before it cooked, which is why I had to buy this:

Another MII-333, this one with a thin aluminum cooling plate instead of a thick brass one. However, this processor didn’t overclock any better than it’s predecessor, but it had a good future looking at it. It was to go under that nice copper cap we had made. With the water cooler I was able to make 350mhz, with the voltage @ 3.2volts. This was quite a feat at the time. I was glad but I got on with my life.
